What Happens If It Rains?

The #1 question we get. Here's the honest answer.

The Short Answer

Your event continues. Our clearspan marquees are fully waterproof commercial structures — not gazebos, not pop-ups. They are engineered for South East Queensland weather including heavy subtropical rain and winds up to 80km/h.

How Our Marquees Handle Rain

Waterproof Roof

Commercial PVC roof panels — not fabric. Zero leaks, full coverage. Rain runs off the pitched roof, not into your event.

Wind Rated to 80km/h

Commercial aluminium frame anchored with star pickets (grass) or concrete weights (hard surface). Rated for gusts well above a typical Brisbane storm.

Full Wall Enclosure

White or clear PVC wall panels can close every opening. Wind-driven rain stays outside. On warm days, leave walls open on the sheltered side.

Pro-Floor Protects Against Mud

Pro-Floor modular flooring raises your floor 17mm above the ground. No mud, no grass stains, no wet feet. Non-slip surface even if drinks get spilled.

Brisbane Weather Reality

Brisbane has a subtropical climate with distinct wet (October–March) and dry (April–September) seasons. Even in the "dry" season, afternoon storms can pop up with little warning. This is why our Pack 2 and Pack 3 include flooring and lighting — they turn a weather-dependent outdoor setup into a weather-proof venue.

The reality is: most Brisbane outdoor events experience at least a brief shower. Our marquees are designed for this. We've set up through cyclone warnings, hailstorms, and 40°C heat. Your event will be fine.

Hot Weather Tips

Summer events (30°C+)

Remove side walls for airflow, use clear roof for natural light, position marquee to catch prevailing breeze (typically from the south-east in Brisbane).

Winter events (15°C at night)

Close all walls to retain body heat. A 60-person dinner inside a fully enclosed marquee stays surprisingly warm. For extra heating, portable gas heaters can be positioned safely.

Weather FAQ

What wind speed can the marquee handle?+

Our clearspan marquees are engineered for wind gusts up to 80km/h — well above a typical Brisbane storm.

Can I leave the walls off in summer?+

Yes. Remove side walls for cross-ventilation and position the marquee to catch the prevailing south-east breeze. Walls can go on at any time if weather changes.

Do I need flooring if it might rain?+

Strongly recommended. Pro-Floor raises your floor 17mm above the ground — no mud, no wet feet, no grass stains. Essential for formal events.

What happens in a severe storm warning?+

If BOM issues a severe weather warning exceeding our 80km/h rating, we may recommend postponement for safety. This is rare — Brisbane storms typically peak at 60-70km/h.
