Why Hire Lighting from In-Tents?

Lighting is the single easiest way to transform any outdoor space into an event venue. At $50 per 15m run, four warm-white festoon strands give you 60 metres of golden-hour ambience for just $200. String them inside a marquee, drape them across a backyard, or build a full overhead canopy on poles — every Brisbane event we light starts with festoon strings on Edison-style globes.

If you want the guesswork removed, our festoon packs bundle the strings, perimeter poles, star pickets and centre posts in one hire — Backyard Bliss ($280) covers a standard suburban backyard, Garden Party ($450) handles acreage and larger gardens, and the Venue Canopy ($700) creates the dense magazine-style overhead lighting wedding planners ask for. Pair any pack with a marquee for weather protection, or use standalone for open-air celebrations on a clear Brisbane night.

For dramatic colour, our high-output RGBW LED wash uplighters ($80 each) transform marquee interiors, walls, trees and architectural features. Four to six units around a marquee perimeter completely change the atmosphere — moody purple for cocktail vibes, warm white for elegant dining, or your brand colours for a corporate launch. They run cool, so they are safe near linen and curtains.

Festoon lighting needs power — 240V mains or a generator if your venue is off-grid. Delivery, install and pack-down are billed as a separate Delivery & Install line item; our crew positions the poles, runs the cable, hangs every strand and tests the circuit before your guests arrive. Call 0435 642 592 for a same-day quote.

Lighting Hire FAQ

How many festoon runs do I need for my event?

Interior marquee lighting: 2-4 runs depending on marquee size. Backyard canopy: 4-8 runs for a standard suburban backyard. Contact us with your space dimensions and we will recommend the right quantity.

Do festoon lights need power?

Yes — 240V mains power or a generator. A single 2.2kVA generator can run up to 10 festoon runs. We hire generators from $95 per event.

Can festoon lights be used in rain?

Yes. Our festoon cable and globes are outdoor-rated and weatherproof. They are safe to use in rain.

How do you hang festoon lights without trees?

We use 3.2m aluminium poles with star pickets ($15 each) and centre posts ($40 for 4.2m high). These create the overhead structure for festoon canopies in open spaces.

What area does the Backyard Bliss Pack cover?

Approximately 8m x 8m — enough for a dining area seating 30-40 guests under a festoon canopy.

What's included in the Backyard Bliss Pack?

Festoon lighting runs, 3.2m aluminium perimeter poles, star pickets for anchoring, centre post for height, and all connection hardware.

Do I need a generator for festoon lights?

Only if you don't have a 240V power point within reach of the setup area. Most Brisbane backyards have accessible outdoor power points that work fine.

What's the difference between Backyard Bliss and Garden Party?

Coverage area. Backyard Bliss covers ~8x8m ($280). Garden Party covers ~12x10m ($450). Garden Party includes more festoon runs, more poles, and wider spacing for larger spaces.

Can the Garden Party Pack be used at a park?

Yes — the poles are freestanding with star picket anchors. No trees or structures required. We set up at parks across Brisbane regularly.

How high are the festoon lights in the Venue Canopy?

Centre height is approximately 4.2m using our tall centre posts. Perimeter height is approximately 3.2m. This creates a gentle drape effect across the canopy.

Can the Venue Canopy be installed inside a marquee?

Yes — festoon lighting inside a marquee is one of our most popular setups. The lights attach to the frame structure, no poles needed inside.

How many flood lights do I need for tree lighting?

Typically 1-2 per feature tree depending on size. For a row of palms or a garden perimeter, 4-6 units creates a dramatic effect. Contact us with your space and we will advise.

What colour light do metal halide flood lights produce?

Metal halide produces a crisp, bright white light — excellent for tree uplighting and architectural features. It is significantly more powerful than LED alternatives at the same price point.

Are metal halide lights safe outdoors?

Yes — our units are weather-rated for outdoor use. They do run warm, so we position them safely away from guests and soft furnishings.

How many poles do I need?

Poles are spaced every 3-4 metres around the perimeter of your festoon area. For a 10m x 10m canopy, you need approximately 12 perimeter poles plus 1-2 centre posts for height.

Can poles be used on concrete?

Standard poles anchor with star pickets (grass only). For concrete or paved surfaces, we use weighted bases instead — contact us for availability.

How many centre posts do I need?

Typically 1-2 for a backyard canopy, 2-4 for a larger garden installation. Centre posts create the high points that the festoon strings drape from.

What's the height difference between perimeter and centre posts?

Perimeter poles are 3.2m, centre posts are 4.2m — the 1m difference creates the natural drape effect across the canopy.

Do I need corner posts and perimeter poles?

Corner posts go at the 4 corners of your festoon area. Perimeter poles fill in between the corners. For a simple square canopy: 4 corner posts + perimeter poles every 3-4m along each side.
